I'm not sure if the devs have thought about this, and apologies if so.First of all, I'd like to talk about stands. Obviously aircraft come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and as such the stands they park on are all different as well. In the real world, it's often very flexible and stands are built to fit into the space and accommodate specific aircraft, although this is probably quite difficult to work into a computer game due to the large number of variables.The ICAO aerodrome reference code helps with this - it consists of a number (indicating essentially length of runway required) and a letter (indicating the size of the aircraft). The latter is what I'm going to bring to your attention - letters from A to F. A indicates small aircraft, and F are the largest. So a code A aircraft (light aircraft) can fit on any stand, but code F planes (A380 size) would need a code F stand.
This might be an easy way to go about creating stands for the game - six simple and already well recognised categories that would accommodate all necessary aircraft quite conveniently.Another thing that is common in larger airports is the use of 'MARS' stands. These stands accommodate larger wide body aircraft on the 'centre' line (C), but if needed can accommodate two smaller aircraft on stands to the left (L) and right (R) of the centre line. Again, these can get very complicated. But being able to divide the wide body stands into two narrow body stands would be a useful feature to have.In terms of terminals now; I know that in the initial release the player will only be able to have a single terminal, with an eventual update allowing multi terminal functionality. Some airports, of course, have expanded into multiple terminals in slightly different ways. For example - Dublin Airport has two terminals, however they are linked when you go airside - passengers can access Terminal 1 and walk through to T2. Glasgow Airport has a notional Terminal 2 that is merely an additional check in hall (this can also been seen in Manchester T1, who have a separate check in area for Jet2 flights).
I wonder if these layouts will be possible in the game? Can we build multiple separate check in areas (potentially in separate buildings), providing that (at this stage) all flights go from the same departure hall? And is there capacity to have multiple security search areas, again leading to the same departure hall for now?Finally, an interesting article has hit the news recently from Edinburgh Airport, who are going to offer fast-trak immigration for passengers willing to pay a £5 fee in the first move of its kind. I frankly think it's a silly idea, but most airports already offer a similar facility at security. Will Fast-Trak lines be available in the game (for premium passengers ± those willing to pay you extra money)?Edinburgh also try to take your money at lots of other points above and beyond the traditional money spinners - you are charged to drop someone off and pick them up at the airport for example.

Could these sorts of revenue earners be included in the game as an opportunity to earn a quick buck, whilst probably making lots of your passengers annoyed? I foresee putting a barrier in the road at the drop off point that would be free for buses, but taxis and private cars dropping someone off/picking them up would have to pay. The code for the stands are written in a one to one relation so that it can service one aircraft at a time. MARS stand might therefore not be doable within the current system.We want to the player to be able to build a large airport with multiple departure halls and terminals. It is too early to say exactly how it will play out but the flights are given a check in desk.
