Transplant Life FoundationTransplant Games Announcement:The past couple of weeks have brought uncertainty and great concern. The COVID-19 virus has tremendously altered our nation, relationships and lives.

Please know that you are animportant part of our family and have been in our thoughts during these trying times. Our community includes recipients, donor families, living donors, caregivers, donation and transplant professionals and many others. Each day, the Transplant Life Foundation works to further our mission of serving the donation and transplant community with educational materials, programs, and events that enhance and improve lives. The Transplant Games is the cornerstone activity of our mission and one that allows us to come together to demonstrate the amazing gift of life, the miracle of transplantation, and to focus the nation on the need for more organs. Our entire transplant family, working together, gives hope and encouragement and saves lives.

We are so much more than an athletic competition.Since the spread of the virus, we have closely followed the experts as they have reviewed data on patients, and the progression of the disease. Despite some positive news on increased testing and possible existing drug therapies, there is a growing concern that conducting our event in July would not be in the best interest of our community. Our number one priority is your health and well-being, and with that objective in mind, we have decided to postpone the 2020 Transplant Games scheduled for July 17-22, 2020. This was a heart-breaking decision for our team, but we can promise you that once the COVID-19 health crisis subsides, we will announce a new set of dates for the New Jersey Games. Rescheduling is a massive undertaking and we will collaborate closely with our incredible partners and sponsors and are committed to bringing you the biggest and best Games ever.We understand that many of you will have questions, and our intent is to get you the answers that you need. However, we ask that you please be patient as we work through the enormous number of details while under government restrictions.Bill Ryan.

Transplant Games Update:The health and well-being of our donation and transplant family is our number one priority at the Transplant Life Foundation. We continue to monitor the information provided by the CDC, the WHO, federal and state agencies, as well as our own medical teams. There is a well-thought out timeline for a review of the impact of the virus and the first two-week segment ends this week. As expected, the numbers are sobering as large-scale testing has begun. Our community is acutely aware of the situation and we appreciate your care and concern in communicating your thoughts. We are continuing to review both the available data and the recommendations of the medical community. Any changes to the 2020 Transplant Games will be discussed with the Team Managers, and announced via our social media pages and direct email distribution.Let me reiterate that your safety is paramount, and all decisions will be made with careful and thoughtful consideration.Thank you for your patience.Bill Ryan. Transplant Life FoundationMeet Josh Sweedyk, Director of Competitions and Multimedia Strategies.“Working for the Transplant Life Foundation and in the transplant and donation community has been an amazing experience.

The stories, memories and accomplishments are something I cherish everyday. Though I have not personally been affected by donation or transplantation, I still feel a part of this incredible community.

Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey over the last four years.”. Transplant Life FoundationFor the past 25 years, during the first weekend in May, runners and walkers have journeyed from the vineyards of Napa Valley, through Sonoma and Petaluma, across the Golden Gate Bridge to the beach in Santa Cruz to increase awareness of the 125,000 Americans waiting for organs. In the newly named Rotary Golden Gate Relay (RGGR), the transfer of the baton from runner to runner symbolizes the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient. Join this journey across the Golden Gate Bridge on May 2-3, 2020. Participants must register by March 31. To register or find out more about this event please visit.

Transplant Life FoundationTo the Donation and Transplant CommunityThe COVID-19 Virus is a global health concern that has gained everyone’s attention and our transplant community is particularly sensitive to the media reports and the information that have been forthcoming. We understand your concerns and, on a daily basis, are monitoring state and federal agencies, along with guidance from our own medical experts to stay informed on the situation. As is always the case, the health and well-being of our donation and transplant family is our number one priority, and decisions that could impact that will be made with careful and thoughtful consideration. Based on current information, there are no plans to cancel or suspend the 2020 Transplant Games, which are scheduled for July 17-22, 2020.We are a unique community. Many of us have faced life and death issues and some face real and long-lasting health problems.

We are not prone to panic and if there was ever a situation that called for calm and sound thinking, this is one of them. Take care of yourself and your loved ones.
